Guidelines and Cost

Several years ago, due to a growing parent need, First English Lutheran Preschool and Kindergarten began to offer an aftercare program beyond the school day and traditional extended day. This is for children in the 3s classes through Kindergarten. Children enrolled in aftercare continue on from the lunch bunch which ends at 2:15 or the afternoon Kindergarten which ends at 2:20 and are able to stay until 5:00 p.m. sharp.

Our goal is to make this program a pleasant, playful and restful afternoon. We hope that FELP Aftercare children will have a rest time on their own mats or sleeping bags from home. There will be music or audio stories, low lighting and books available to allow for rest or quiet time. As kids awaken, there will be a snack. The children will have time to play outdoors as well as indoors. They will have access to arts and craft materials, and opportunities to play games with the teachers and each other. We hope this time will be happy and cozy for all of the kids and for the teachers.

After care is from 2:15 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. You may sign up in one of the following ways:

1. Per semester: The cost is $24/day in addition to lunch bunch (you will need to sign up for lunch bunch and aftercare or be in full day kindergarten)

2. Per day: For a one time sign up, the cost is $26. We request notice and registration a day ahead. If you need to sign up in an “emergency situation”, please call the office to be sure space is available.

Weather Policy for AFTERCARE: We will follow local school closings in the event of bad weather. If it begins to snow during the day, please feel free to call the office at 410-235-5887 to inquire about early closing. If we are concerned about road conditions, we may need to close early as our teachers need to drive home safely.

Pick-Up

Children will be dismissed from the lobby at 5:00 p.m. sharp. You are certainly welcome to come earlier to meet your child in the classroom or on the playground. Please be sure that you check out with a teacher if you come early and if anyone other than yourself is picking up, a note must be provided. Please be prompt. The late fee is $25. We must be diligent in dismissing on time as we do not have extra staff available and the teachers will need to get home to their families and be ready for a new day in the morning.

Please remember that aftercare is only provided on school days. If FELP is closed, there is no school. Please refer to the school calendar.
